Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about lessons, the community, and getting started.
Getting Started
Do I need my own violin to start?
Not right away. The free beginner series covers what you need to know before buying or renting. When you're ready, I can help you choose the right instrument for your level and budget.
I'm an adult - is it too late to learn?
Not at all. Many of my students started as adults. You'll learn differently than a child, but that's an advantage - adults tend to progress quickly because they understand the 'why' behind each technique.
What ages do you teach?
I work with children ages 4 and up, and adults of all ages. Whether your child is just starting or you're picking up a new hobby in retirement, the approach is tailored to you.
Free Beginner Series
What does the free beginner series include?
Four video lessons covering the essentials: bow hold, violin hold and E-string rhythms, how to put tapes on your violin and tune it, and ear training with your first song. Just enter your name and email to get instant access.
Do I need an account to watch the free videos?
No account needed. Enter your name and email on the free lessons page, and you'll get immediate access to all four videos.
Private Lessons
How do online lessons work?
Lessons happen over Google Meet. You'll need a stable internet connection, a device with a camera, and your violin. I send personalized homework after each session.
How much do private lessons cost?
Two packages are available: 4 sessions of 45 minutes for $220, or 4 sessions of 30 minutes for $180. Payment is one-time, before lessons begin. All prices are in USD.
Can I try a lesson before committing?
Yes. I offer a free 15-minute intro call - it's not a lesson, just a chat to see if it's a good fit for both of us.
Community
What's included in the community?
Members get bi-weekly learning videos with explanations, monthly group calls, an events calendar, and a general chat to connect with other learners. It's a space to stay motivated and learn alongside others.
How much does the community cost?
$19 per month. Free for the first 7 days. It auto-renews monthly and you can cancel anytime. All prices are in USD.
Payments & Billing
What payment methods do you accept?
Payments are processed through Stripe, which accepts all major credit and debit cards.
What is your refund policy?
Community subscriptions: cancel anytime, keep access until the end of your billing cycle - no mid-month refunds. Private lessons: attended sessions are not refundable, and unused sessions are not refundable. Full details on my refund policy page.
Technical
What do I need for online lessons?
A stable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone (laptop, tablet, or phone), and your violin. A quiet room with enough space to stand and play works best.
What devices can I use to access the site?
The site works on any modern browser - desktop, tablet, or phone. For video lessons, a larger screen is recommended so you can see techniques clearly.
